Background:
My name is Jason and I am a 40 year old, British male. Amongst other things I was formerly a project manager in the electronics industry. I also ran a research and development department for an American owned company based in the UK. However, I have long since swapped the desk, airport lounge and unwelcome stress for a much simpler and more eco-friendly life. Educationally, I am a graduate in electronics and hold a Diploma of Music. I have also studied some behaviourism at degree level. (Please note though, I am not a qualified animal behaviourist.)
Rescue Charities:
I began volunteering with a south London animal charity last year. My role there was and still is as a dog socialiser, working with abandoned and stray animals. This very rewarding pursuit has given me experience with a variety of breeds and some experience of dealing with dogs with behavioural issues. I am continuing to work with animals at that charity for free, but sorry, I cannot walk your dogs for free! I have also done voluntary work for a second animal rescue charity, one based in north London. This work has included client home visits on behalf of the rescue centre.
Home life and eco-friendly choices:
I have owned a rescue dog for about 4 years now and I try to involve him in as much of my life as possible. Partly for this reason I charge less than you might expect for group walking and 'Safari'. At home I strive to live a fairly eco-friendly life and I've carried this ethos into my pet care work. Groups of dogs aren't collected in cars or vans but are collected on foot. However, I will sometimes use public transport to allow me to arrive at a client's home on time. Occasionally, I may take your pet via public transport to a group walk or Safari, but this is kept to a minimum. I believe in walking - it's good for the dogs, the environment and me.
Insurance:
I have a full pet business insurance plan with PBI. This covers dog walking, pet minding, pet sitting & pet boarding for "Public Liability", "Care, Custody and Control of Animals" and "Loss of Keys".
